What type of vehicle should I buy?
I’ve always driven VW Golfs and am leaning towards another Golf or Impreza Hatch but I now have a big dog who comes with me a lot. With my seats folded down, there is more than enough room for the dog but sometimes luggage room is a little restricted, especially if travelling with a 2nd person.
My thoughts are either another Golf or Impreza with a roof rack for Thule luggage unit or just get a mini suv. 95% of the time the smaller car is sufficient and plus I prefer the feel of a smaller car. The SUV seems overkill for most of my needs.
I’m single without kids.
I’m picky with the types of cars I will drive. I have it narrowed down to these makes:
VW
Subaru
Honda
Volvo (used)
I’m thinking the 20 to 25 price range
I’d go with Subaru first but if you are used to driving VW Golf, you may not like Subaru, it has a bit different feel to it but I am sure you can get used to it and it is an all wheel drive. Forget Honda or Volvo, those are not cars for single people, and you won’t get the same enjoyment from these cars. Also, forget SUVs, they are not as maneuvarable and use more gas. There are only 2 SUVs I would consider – Ford Escape or Toyota RAV 4.
P.S. One other car I suggest you check out – Mazda 3 Hatchback. This is a very fun car to drive.
